Protech's Research Result Showed On The Front Cover Of Leading Impact Journal Defence Technology

Recently, the academic research result of Protech research team titled ”Ballistic response mechanism and resistance-driven evaluation method of UHMWPE composite” had been accepted in Defence Technology (Q1, IF = 5.0) the well-known journal in the field of impact protection and was featured on the cover of the February 2025 issue. This achievement marked that the theoretical research of Protech in the field of impact protection of UHMWPE composite had been highly recognized.

Defence Technology, or DT for short, was a comprehensive scientific and technological academic journal sponsored by China Ordnance Society. Its aim is to promote academic exchanges and advance the development of defense science and technology in China. The journal mainly published high-level original academic papers in the fields of cutting-edge basic theoretical research, applied science research and engineering technology. The specific content involved armor protection, weapons and ammunition, weapons launching, aviation guidance, energetic materials, combustion and detonation, ballistics, advanced materials and manufacturing, autonomous technology, optoelectronic information technology etc.

The research result, Ballistic Response Mechanism and Resistance-driven Evaluation Method of UHMWPE Composite, was focusing on the ballistic response mechanism of UHMWPE composite revealed the deformation and energy absorption mechanism of the material under high-speed impact through in-depth experimental and theoretical analyses. Meanwhile, the research also proposed an innovative performance evaluation method of Projectile Resistance-driven, which provided a more accurate and scientific means to evaluate the ballistic performance of composites.

As a material with excellent mechanical properties, UHMWPE had a wide range of applications in the field of ballistic protection. However, the enhancement of its ballistic performance and mechanism research had consistently been a focal point for researchers. The collaborative research between Protech and Beijing Institute of Technology not only deepened the understanding of the ballistic response mechanism of UHMWPE composite, but also provided theoretical basis and technical support for further optimization of material properties. The successful publication of the research result and its feature on the front cover of DT magazine fully demonstrated the strength and influence of the result in the research field of UHMWPE composite. This was not only an affirmation of Protech's research team, but also a high recognition of Protech's continuous investment in R&D and innovation.
