The International Conference on Composite Materials began in 1975 and has been held every two years for the last two decades. It is the longest, largest and most authoritative academic symposium in the world specialized in composite materials.

The 21st International Conference on Composites Materials (ICCM-21) was held from August 20th to 25th, 2017 in Qujiang International Conference, Xi'an, China. The conference was organized by the China Society of Composites. The theme of this conference was Innovation and Development of Advanced Composites, which aimed to promote the exchange of experts from all over the world in the field of composite materials and to showcase the latest achievement of research and industry in the field of composite materials, meanwhile to promote the exchanges and cooperation among the composite materials experts from different countries.

Over 2,000 professionals and scholars from more than 40 countries and regions around the world attended the conference. Seven themes and 62 sub-venues were set up, and 1228 papers were displayed at various sub-venues. Dr. Zhou Qing conducted a lecture entitled "the study on the ballistic performance and failure mechanism of UHMWPE-Aramid1414 fiber " at hybrid composites. He showed the latest research results about the ballistic performance and mechanism of UHMWPE-Aramid fiber hybrid composites which provides the theoretical basis for the future design on hybrid composite structures.
